Consultation Report from Taskforce on Active Citizenship |
|
The Taskforce on Active Citizenship has recently published a report on the findings of the consultation process it has undertaken over recent months. The independent consultant’s report provides an outline of the views submitted by over 1,150 individuals and organisations on active citizenship and what it means in 21st century Ireland. It also reflects issues raised around the country at seven regional consultation seminars undertaken by the Taskforce during September and October. In launching the report, Mary Davis, Chairperson of the Taskforce, said that “the level of response to this consultation phase is an extremely positive indicator of the value people place on civic participation in an increasingly diverse democratic nation”. “We really value the ideas and views put forward by everyone during the consultation process and these are now being carefully considered by the Taskforce as we develop our final report to Government.” “We would like to thank everyone who participated in the consultation process for the very wide range of issues they have raised.” The Report to the Government will be made in early 2007.
