SUMMARY:Guided Mindfulness with Jane Negrych
DESCRIPTION:This session is an introduction to mindfulness that explores the unsettled mind and then offers a practice to help settle the mind. \nFacilitator: Jane Negrych \nJane Negrych is Managing Director of The Santuary which is a meditation centre for social change in the heart of Dublin City. SUMMARY:Five Ways to Wellbeing for Volunteer Managers with Mental Health Ireland
DESCRIPTION:Event organised by Volunteer Ireland: Five Ways to Wellbeing for Volunteer Managers with Mental Health Ireland \nThis National Volunteering Week\, Volunteer Ireland have partnered with Mental Health Ireland to provide a free session on the five ways to wellbeing for volunteers. This year has been more difficult than most and with volunteers giving so much back for others\, now is the chance to focus on your own wellbeing. \nThe Five Ways to Wellbeing are simple actions to practice each day to maintain or improve our mental health and wellbeing. The New Economics Foundation developed the set of evidence-based actions in 2008. The project examined research from across the world on proven actions that can help us to feel good and function well. \n\nSmall improvements in wellbeing can increase our ability to lead a more fulfilling life.\nEach action in the Five Ways to Wellbeing can make a positive difference to your life.\nThe Five Ways to Wellbeing are free and easy to incorporate into your life.\nYou are probably doing some of these actions already without being aware of it.\nTo get the most from the Five Ways to Wellbeing\, try to combine all of them on a daily basis.\n\nMental Health Ireland’s Finola Colgan will take us through the five ways and how we can introduce them into our daily lives. \nRegister to attend this free event here.

SUMMARY:At Home Circuit Exercise Class with Siel Bleu
DESCRIPTION:Event organised by Volunteer Ireland: At Home Circuit Exercise Class with Siel Bleu \nWe are delighted to partner with Siel Bleu this National Volunteering Week to offer an at home full body circuit class. \nThe class will be accessible to all. Having 2 weights is desirable but you can easily use household object like bottles of water or tins of beans etc. \nSiel Bleu Ireland is Ireland’s leading exercise social enterprise\, dedicating to ensuring those who typically don’t exercise can get moving. Pre COVID-19 Siel Bleu Ireland was delivering weekly exercise sessions to over 6500 people across Ireland in nursing homes\, community centres and in private homes. \nIn order to continue achieving their mission of providing accessible exercise for everyone who needs it\, the social enterprise created Siel Bleu At Home – online exercise classes aimed to keep people moving while they stayed home. SUMMARY:Guided Mindfulness with Dominic Cogan
DESCRIPTION:Event organised by Volunteer Ireland: Guided Mindfulness with Dominic Cogan \nThe key message of this session is that we are far more effective as volunteers when we first show up for ourselves. Self-care is about learning to be your own best friend. It is not about self -indulgence but doing what we need\, to take good care of ourselves. When we value our own needs we are more tuned into the needs of others and have greater capacity for truly being of help. \nThe session will include some information about mindfulness\, a chance to sample a short mindfulness practice and will offer some tips about self-care. \nFacilitator: Dominic Cogan \nDominic is a qualified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher. He has been practicing mindfulness for over sixteen years. He teaches courses with The Mindfulness Centre and The Sanctuary in Dublin as well as the ETB. He offers Mindfulness and Wellbeing courses to the general public\, community groups\, those in schools and people working in business.
