Join the DLR says ‘Thank You’ campaign…

3 steps in as little as 5 minutes

This National Volunteering Week (21st -27th September) we are partnering with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council to say a big ‘Thank You’ to the hundreds of volunteers who stepped forward to volunteer in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and all volunteers who regularly help our community. We are inviting all local councillors, local organisations and local citizens to be part the campaign ‘Thank You’ video – don’t miss the opportunity to thank your local volunteers through this Volunteer Centre and County Council initiative.

Step 1

Create a sign with the words ‘Thank You’ written/displayed on it. This can be as elaborate or as simple as you like.

We’ve included some tips, ready-to-go templates and inspiration for your ‘Thank You’ sign below.

Step 2

**Take a photo or video* of you and your ‘Thank You’ sign.**

Tips and Guidelines:

Please feel free to feature interesting locations, pets or other people or if you’re an organisation, consider standing beside your organisations sign or logo (as long as you have their permission and are observing social distancing).
Capture your photo/video in landscape. Phone cameras are perfectly ok to use but do record and share in the highest quality possible.
For photos, look straight at your camera with your sign clearly visible.
We know a photo won’t always capture everything, so if you’re going to write your thank you in the sand or have your kids hold up different parts of it, a short video may be the way to go. As we’ll be setting the final piece to music and a thank you message, it’s best not to speak during your video – instead let your Thank You sign do the talking.

We would love the THANK YOU signs in this video to be as diverse and beautiful as our county and would encourage you to get creative however we understand that some of you might be tight on time! To that end we’ve put together some ready-to-go templates in the case that you can’t invest a bit more time in your ‘Thank You’.

Tips and inspiration

Your sign should clearly display the words THANK YOU – either in English, Irish or another language of your choosing.

Consider the size of your THANK YOU sign – if you’re taking a photo from far away, your sign may need to be bigger than A4.

Your sign does not need to be made of paper – any way of presenting the words THANK YOU is good! We encourage you to get creative and feel free to involve others in the making of your sign – friends, family, colleagues or kids!

About National Volunteering Week

National Volunteering Week is the annual week where we celebrate all things volunteering. This year the week will have a dual focus – thanking volunteers and organisations for everything they have done this year and encouraging them to focus on your own health and well-being. A local and national communications campaign supported by a programme of events will take place from 21st – 27th September 2020. National Volunteering Week usually takes place during the third week of May but was postponed this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
