Thinking of volunteering
Volunteering is about choosing to give some of your time to benefit your community or society. Here in Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Volunteer Centre, we are passionate about volunteering and believe that there are many benefits to getting involved.
We are here to help you on your volunteering journey. Our service, allows you to find a volunteer role that is of interest to you or simply provide information or advice on volunteering generally. Our service is free and there is no expectation on any person accessing the service to become involved in any volunteering. If you simply want more information, do get in touch.
If you’re new to volunteering, it can be hard to know how to select a suitable volunteer role. Our Volunteer Hub contains lots of information for new and repeat volunteers – the ‘Getting Started’ tips there might be a particularly good place to begin.
Our Services to Volunteers:
- Find out more about volunteering – we’re available by email, phone and in person to talk to you about all things volunteering. A good first step, can sometimes be a simple chat – find out what to expect here.
- Access to I-VOL, the national volunteering database which allows you to browse and express an interest in specific volunteer roles online – access I-VOL here. If you decide to apply for a role online, our team will put you in contact with the organisation you’re interested in volunteering with.
- Access to your Volunteer Profile, where you can check in on the status of your applications through I-VOL, keep your details up to date and print out your volunteer history.
- Access to specific volunteering initiatives in Dún Laoghaire Rathdown like Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Community Volunteers. This is a pilot programme where volunteers can support local community events and festivals along with more urgent, one off needs like the community response to COVID-19. Read more here.
- A monthly newsletter with a selection of volunteer roles hand picked by our team.
