Our Commitment to Environmental Action

As an organisation and staff team, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Volunteer Centre is deeply motivated and committed to responding to the Climate and Biodiversity Loss Emergencies. We commit to helping to facilitate others to take climate action and fight biodiversity loss and will work towards reducing our own impact on the planet.
Our commitments:
Our Organisation
- We acknowledge that we have a responsibility to protect the planet.
- We commit to exploring how we can minimise the impact we have through our work practices, the services we use and the actions we support.
- We will continue to build knowledge of this subject within our team, in line with our organisational value of Growth.
- We will work to support the delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals for the Planet
Supporting Volunteering
- We recognise the unique role that volunteers have to play in responding to the Climate and Biodiversity Loss Emergencies.
- We understand the benefits to both People and Planet in involving volunteers in climate and biodiversity actions.
- We acknowledge that environmental groups are often under-resourced and would benefit from additional support.
- We will continue to facilitate the creation of opportunities for people to take actions locally.
- We will work with local partners to help increase involvement of volunteers in Dún Laoghaire Rathdown in environmental volunteering.
- We will share opportunities to take action with volunteers through our communication channels.
Speaking Up for the Planet
- We will share the work we do, have climate conversations, and strive to encourage others to support climate and biodiversity actions, through the involvement of volunteers.
- We will be active in engaging with other stakeholders through representation on committees and networks.
- We will advocate for volunteer involvement in local and national responses to the Climate and Biodiversity Loss crises.
