Project Description
The 1Million Stars is an international community arts project that connects our community through the craft of weaving stars. Each star represents light, hope and solidarity against violence.
The 1Million Stars initiative has been brought to Ireland as a collaboration between art therapist Siobhan McQuillan and Amber Women’s Refuge in Kilkenny. The aim is to weave One Million Stars to raise awareness of domestic abuse and gender based violence.
This is an inclusive project and there are star weavers from all walks of life – from TY students, community groups, and schools to individual participants who weave stars from home! Everyone is joined together in solidarity against violence and promoting the message of hope for a better future.
Amber Women’s Refuge would like the support of Volunteer Weavers to weave stars. Volunteers can weave stars in their own time/home for the 1Million Stars project. Weaving packs are provided, along with an instructional video to help volunteers get started. To apply for this role via iVol, please click here.
