Project Description
Consider doing a plastic audit of your home with this tool from Voice Ireland. it may help you find areas that could be considered for your climate action.
Can you choose reusables? Check out the Conscious Cup Campaign for more info on why it’s better to choose a reusable coffee cup. Could you take a refillable water bottle with you when out and about? Refill Ireland’s Tap Map is a helpful resource for locations that will fill your bottle for free.
Does your local store allow you to being your own containers? This could help you to reduce the amount of disposable packaging you take home. Can you buy loose when in the supermarket?
These locations have refill options in DLR: Gourmet Food Pantry Dun Laoghaire (cleaning products), Conlemany, Dun Laoghaire (food refills) and The Good Neighbour, Dundrum (foods and non food products).
There is a new Refill app available which can help with finding places around you that accept keepcups, allow you to refill bottles and containers. Find out more about World Refill Day (16th June and a also a link to download the app here.
In general, the less we buy, the less packaging we need to deal with, so think about whether you need that new item when out shopping. Try to use items you have already for as long as possible.
Take a look at the Living Lightly in Ireland website which may help with making sustainable purchasing choice.
Global Action Plan also have some suggested actions here. Check out the We Choose Reuse campaign here. Take a look at Voice Ireland’s Sick of Plastic campaign here.
There is an online directory of places in Ireland that repair items. Check out Repair My Stuff at this link.
