Cork Volunteer Centre is recruiting for the post of Placement Officer1volunteer

Reporting to the Manager, the role of the Placement Officer is to to recruit volunteers and match them to opportunities and support them in their volunteering roles; to work with voluntary and community groups to ensure that there are a variety of identified roles available for volunteers to participate in; to support the Manager with the implementation of the Board’s workplan. Most of the work will be done using our online database (Salesforce).

Key responsibilities:

  • Promote volunteering across the community.
  • Recruit and place volunteers for a variety of tasks and roles.
  • Establish the needs of registered volunteers and provide them with necessary supports to secure satisfactory placement.
  • Build relationship with voluntary and community organisations within Cork county and city and to ensure that a wide range of volunteering opportunities is registered with the Centre.
  • Provide advice and assistance to organisations wishing to recruit volunteers.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of volunteering and volunteering opportunities.
  • Keep accurate and methodical records relating to volunteering and volunteers opportunities.
  • Such other duties which do not change the nature of the post, as maybe determined by the Centre manager/board.

Person Specification

  • Commitment to the concept of volunteering and objectives of the post. 
  • Excellent general administration skills, organisational and computer skills including use of internet database packages. 
  • Ability to work with a very wide range of individuals and organisations. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to network effectively between different organisations.
  • Ability to deliver training to a diverse range of individuals and groups.
  • Ability to advise, inform, motivate and support individuals and organisations.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.

Knowledge/Experience

  • Possess a relevant qualification and/or relevant experience in business or  community/voluntary sector in Cork county
  • Understanding of volunteerism
  • Awareness of equal opportunities

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, with flexibility to carry out work out of office hours and at weekends where necessary.

Place of Work: Cork Volunteer Centre, 2a Coburg St, Cork

Contract: 12 month contract.

Salary: €27,000 per annum
