Project Description

I am the wildlife and biodiversity officer for the committee of the Greenview community garden. For the last year we have been creating a wildlife area in our garden. I have lots of fruit trees such as elder, blackthorn, apple and plum.

I have also recently planted wildflowers. I am planning to plant millet, amaranth and other grains as well. I have become very concerned over biodiversity loss in Ireland and around the world and think that intensive farming practices have done much damage.   I intended to create a permaculture hedge to counteract this, and hope to provide shelter and food for our native birds, insects and animals. I think we can all do something for our environment and hope that such projects become widespread. Our committee and the North West Area Partnership have been very helpful in the project.
