Project Description

Researchers in DCU would like to hear from volunteers for their NEX project. They are exploring the potential of technology to support older adults to live independently at home. This study will involve testing a combination of 3 technology types, over a 10-week period, in your own home. These technologies include a voice activated assistant (Alexa),a smartwatch and ambient sensors.

As a participant you will meet with the research team on 7 different occasions, 5 of these visits will take place online via Zoom. The remaining 2 visits will involve a researcher and technical engineer visiting you in your home to install the technologies at the start of the study and remove them at the end.

Volunteer profile: (i) Healthy older adult (aged 60 years or older), (ii) Lives alone in the greater Dublin area or surrounding counties, (iii) Has a home broadband connection, (iV) Is fully vaccinated against Covid 19, including booster dose.
