Climate Action Challenge – volunteers joining together to take small actions to help protect our planet and its biodiversity.
DLR Volunteer Centre is delighted to launch a new project this year, our Climate Action Challenge. We aim to build a community of volunteers coming together to take small steps to protect our planet and its biodiversity.
Project Background
Do you worry about what you can do to protect our precious planet and fight against climate change? This is something we think about a lot in DLR Volunteer Centre and this year we want to work on this together with you, our registered volunteers! Tackling big challenges can feel easier when working with others.
Imagine what we could achieve if we came together to learn about how we can make changes in the way we live, and the choices we make, to help make a difference? Could you pledge to take some small actions each month? This is why we have decided to launch a new project this year, our Climate Action Challenge. We aim to build a community of volunteers coming together to learn from experts and each other so that they can take small steps to protect our planet and its biodiversity. Topics we hope to cover in Phase 1 of the project are: Climate Science, Reducing Food Waste, Protecting our Biodiversity, and Waste Reduction and Recycling.
So what’s involved?
REGISTER: The first step is to register to join us at the link below.
SURVEY: We will then ask you to complete a short survey. We are keen to get a sense of where everyone is starting from in relation to climate action. We will check in again at the end of the project to see if we have made a difference!
JOIN SESSIONS: The next ask of you is to join in with other volunteers to attend our monthly sessions (online for now).
PLEDGE: We would like you to pledge to take some actions after each session and the following month we will come back together to talk about our experiences.
SHARE STORIES: We would love to collect your stories too, so please do record your experiences and take photos along the way! Stories inspire us and will help encourage other volunteers.
IDEAS: We will share resources on this webpage and also have regular communications, sharing ideas and stories. Please do share your ideas!
